“Many charities stepped up in this time of need. In the true spirit of giving, some Federal employees took time out to volunteer at local charities and shelters. As Federal employees get back to work and fulfill the missions of their respective agencies and serving the American public, I have decided to extend the solicitation period for the Combined Federal Campaign from December 15, 2013, until January 15, 2014.” |
OPM has released a memo to the CFC administrative leadership around the country, announcing that the CFC will allow solicitation through January 15, 2014. In her memo Acting OPM Director Elaine Kaplan notes the recent budgetary turmoil in the government, stating in part: On behalf of the many not-for-profit organizations we serve, we want to thank Ms Kaplan for taking the lead on this matter. We expect these extra weeks will do much to reduce the potential harm the recent partial government shutdown might have inflicted on the CFC.
