Summary

The City University of New York State Campaign for Volunteer Charitable Giving, CUNY Campaign, is the only university-wide annual charitable fundraising drive. It has been in existence for over twenty-seven years.  Currently there are more than 1,200 charities participating in the campaign. 

The CUNY Campaign works on a three-year cycle so applicants only need to apply once every three years.

Eligibility Requirements

To gain access to the CUNY Campaign an organization must:

  • Be recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization
  • File Form 990
  • Be registered to solicit funds with the New York Office of Charities Registration.  Organizations must file CHAR497 or CHAR500 with the Charities Bureau.  If the organization files CHAR500, the organization’s audit or financial statement and Form 990 must be attached to the application
  • Provide programs and services to the employees and families of employees of The City University of New York and to the communities of New York City
